the front, eye level. Digital controller works well. I just fired it to 1200 degrees F and all coils
glowed, working. Important note below.
The original owner only fired this kiln 2-3 times, melted a pot in it and stopped using it. I have
fired it between 10 and 15 times with no problems. I left some of the melted clay in the corner
and simply put a 1” shelf support there and with 3 others and a full shelf as my bottom and
never had a problem firing. I suppose one could remove all the clay left in that corner and just
lay a shelf on the floor of the kiln as your bottom. That would have to be carefully done to avoid
removing any more of the floor brick. The original owner also broke off some small pieces of the
side fire brick as you see in the photos and pulled a piece of coil out on the door slightly, yet that
coil still works. None of this affected my firing of pots.
I never fired over cone 6 yet rated for around cone 10. All my firings were successful. The Orton
Vent Master works well, and I have the flexible metal exhaust hose also for it.
